Delicious Turkish cuisine prepared fresh daily at the Social Sloth Café is a foodie
favorite! Authentic, homemade flavors delight everyone who comes through the doors.
Social Sloth, formerly located in downtown Lansing, is happily helping more customers
in its bigger location in Central Park Place, Ste. F, Okemos. In fact, the kitchen is so big,
customers can enjoy personalized cooking classes and get Turkish foods catered for
their special events too.
Family run, the Social Sloth offers fresh baked goods including gluten free items from its
artisan bakery plus its homemade foods infused with ethnic Turkish flavors and a
Mediterranean flair. There’s something for everyone with vegetarian and vegan options
as well as gluten free foods.
“We pride ourselves on the highest quality foods and flavorful dishes.” The café’s name
is inspired by the slow-moving Sloth because the owners want you to eat like a sloth,
slowly savoring the food.
Chef Aybars co-owns the cafe. Although his initial career was not in the food industry,
his love of cooking was evident from the start. He attended the Izmir Culinary Institute,
then served as a Chef in New York and now shares his artistry in food preparation with
those who enjoy great eating.
Let’s talk food. Kofte is a Turkish Meatballs Traditional Plate of beef and lamb with
special spices, rice, salad and special yogurt sauce. People love the Carrot Tarator of
sautéed carrot with olive oil, garlic, yogurt and walnuts. There are homemade soups,
egg dishes, sandwiches like hot paninis, wraps, a kid’s menu and some mouthwatering
desserts including Baklava Turkish, seasonal homemade cakes, eclairs, and Kunefe a
dessert layered with special cheese soaked in a sugar based syrup. Try them all with
Turkish coffee, latte or expressos, Turkish tea, soft drinks, water or lemonade.
The Social Sloth Turkish food prepared from scratch is also available for events. Please
