His drive and determination to create a place where he and a team of mostly ex-felons that he employs could find work to create a memorable dining experience. “You're only as strong as the people you employ,” says Meyer. “I started by building a process to support a positive place where people could feel good about coming to work and give their best to create delicious food. I wanted them to have a good job with decent pay where they treat each other and our customers with respect. People join up and like to stay here.”

Meyer noted Eastside Fish Fry & Grill didn't miss a single day of service for their customers during the pandemic.

“It was a learning experience. We made sure to put our customers' needs first. For one thing, we added curbside service which is still active,” said Meyer.

Eastside Fish Fry & Grill is committed to helping the community too. Ronald McDonald's House, Ele's Place and Lansing's Parks and Recreation Holiday Road Rally are just some of the organizations that have received generous food donations.
